Let’s face it-- people lose things all the time. And a small, bendable card is no exception. Someone within your workforce is bound to have lost their vaccination card.
Worry not. According to the COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing; Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS), there are a few options for your workforce should an employee lose their vaccine card or have it stolen.
Although you still have to verify the vaccination status of each employee and whether or not they are fully vaccinated, the regulations state that various acceptable proofs of vaccination status can be provided. In addition to a COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, employees can use:
So, even if someone on your team has lost or misplaced their card, it’s likely they’re able to contact their healthcare provider or pharmacy to provide their status. Many healthcare providers also have personalized, online portals for patients to access portions of their medical records (I.e. MyChart).
If an employee still cannot access their vaccination status, the OSHA regulations state that a signed and dated statement by the employee attesting to their vaccination status (fully or partially) is accepted. The employee must also state that they have lost their card or are otherwise unable to provide proof.
If proof of vaccination or a written statement isn’t provided to the employer, then the employee will be treated as not fully vaccinated. Starting January 4, 2022, employees who are not fully vaccinated will need to undergo weekly COVID-19 testing.
